• Campus Shuttle:

Georgetown University's transport system is the free GUTS (Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle) service. This is the primary means of transport for most students and can be accessed using a GOCard. There are several routes connecting the main campus with key off-campus residential areas and metro hubs. The Rosslyn route links to the Rosslyn Metro Station in Virginia (Blue/Orange/Silver lines), making it a popular choice for students living in Arlington and elsewhere. The Dupont Circle line runs to the Dupont Circle Metro station on the Red Line, serving students living in the northwest of downtown DC. Additionally, there is the Capitol Campus line, which connects the main campus with the Law School and the Capitol Campus. The shuttle runs frequently on weekdays, with some routes operating approximately every 15 minutes, and features multiple campus stops, such as McDonough Gymnasium and Lombardi Circle, allowing students to alight at the nearest point.

• Metro and buses:

Although there is no direct Metro station at the Georgetown University campus entrance, the Washington metropolitan area's Metro system is easily accessible via connecting services. Students typically walk or take the GUTS shuttle to Rosslyn or Dupont Circle station, before transferring to the Metro to travel to various parts of the city. The extensive Metrobus network also serves as a vital complement. The G2 route runs along P Street to Dupont Circle, whilst the 30 series buses travel along Wisconsin Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue, providing easy access to attractions such as the National Mall. Students living in the apartments in Georgetown neighbourhood can walk to the high street, whilst those in areas further afield, such as Foggy Bottom, can choose to walk or cycle to and from Georgetown University, a journey of approximately 20 minutes.

• Cycling:

Georgetown University has joined the Capital Bikeshare Universities Programme, allowing students to sign up for membership at a discounted rate (approximately $25 per year). There are several pick-up and drop-off points around the campus, such as on M Street and Wisconsin Avenue, making it ideal for commuting from Georgetown university off campus housing. At weekends, students often cycle along the scenic C&O Canal Towpath or the banks of the Potomac River.

• Walking and more

Georgetown University Hilltop Campus is relatively compact, with a 10–15-minute walk between buildings, so on-campus residents can generally manage their daily commute on foot. In addition, ride-hailing services such as Uber or Lyft are readily available, making them suitable for late-night journeys, trips to Reagan National Airport (DCA) or Dulles International Airport (IAD), or when heavy items need to be transported. Parking spaces in the vicinity of the university are extremely limited and expensive, so students are advised against driving to campus on a daily basis.

• Campus life

The overall campus atmosphere of Georgetown University alternates between tension and relaxation. Healy Hall is basically a place that every student at GU passes by every day, whether it's for early morning classes, evening study sessions, or just a casual walk. Meanwhile, Lauinger Library is the most "noticeable" spot during exam weeks. It's always brightly lit 24/7 for students who focus on their assignments. On nice days, students prefer to sit and chat or read books on Healy Lawn or Dahlgren Quad.

• Social clubs

Georgetown University has more than 475 clubs and organizations. Many of them are directly related to the school's strong majors. For example, those interested in international relations or politics will generally pay attention to the Georgetown International Relations Club or similar policy discussion organizations. There are often mock negotiations, policy debates, and even interactions with actual practitioners. If you're drawn more to media, writing, or creative expression, getting involved with student publications like The Hoya. There are also some more relaxed clubs, such as cultural, performance, or sports clubs. Many of these activities have an atmosphere of "socializing first, then activities", making it easy for new students to establish their own circles through these.

• Living experience

Georgetown University housing experience actually has a significant impact on your impression of the school. During the first and second years, most students live in on-campus dorm rooms. Residence halls at Georgetown University, like Darnall and Harbin, are close to the cafeteria and teaching buildings. However, the space and facilities are relatively limited. Many senior students will move to apartments for rent near Georgetown University. The off-campus housing offers larger spaces and greater freedom, and some may include bills and furniture. If you live within walking distance of the campus, daily life will be very convenient, and there will be little commuting pressure.

• Off-campus life

Georgetown University is located in the historic Georgetown. From M Street to Wisconsin Avenue in this community, there are numerous restaurants, cafes, second-hand stores, and brand stores. Just taking a leisurely walk there on weekends can pass the afternoon. Taking a bus or a taxi will quickly get you to the DC city center. You can go to the National Mall to visit museums, stroll around Dupont Circle to browse bookstores, or attend activities at your internship site.
